DERRY CITY and Bohemians played out a scoreless draw to end their respective campaigns in a low-key manner at the Brandywell.

Bohemians went into the game with dark rumours about their future capturing negative headlines earlier in the week.

Their supporters displayed a large banner at the end of the game proclaiming: “This Isn’t The End,” referring to the club’s future.

Having taken their first point of the season off Derry City, it was clear that the troubled Dalymount club face an uncertain future.

But credit to both sides for their endeavour in the difficult conditions and, given the balance of the play, it was probably a fair enough result in the end.

However, spoiling the final game of the season was the sending off of Derry’s Emmet Friars and Bohemians substitute Christy Fagan, following the final whistle for what appeared an off the ball altercation.

In front of an attendance of approximately 2,500, both sides created scoring chances with the lively Aidan Downes a constant threat for Bohemians in the opening period.

However it was the home side who created the best scoring chance of the half in the 14th minute.

Mark Farren did well to win possession from Ollie Cahill and while Eamon Zayed appeared to be well placed, he lashed his shot into the side-netting.

Bohs best chance arrived in the 33rd minute when Downes powerful low shot was saved by the legs of Derry keeper, Ger Doherty.

The home side appeared to struggle with the breeze at their backs in the second half with Bohemians enjoying the lion’s share of possession without forcing Doherty into serious action.

Derry, however, were presented with a superb chance to break the deadlock in the 67th minute.

Stephen McLaughin floated a free into the danger area and while Danny Lafferty met the delivery, Bohs keeper, Barry Murphy, produced a superb save, pushing the ball onto his upright.

Derry went close again in the 76th minute when a Lafferty cross from the left was headed over the bar by Zayed.

Two minutes later Lafferty forced Murphy into another save following a corner as the home side began to finish the game strongly but failed to breach the visiting defence.
