Sean O’Connor and Danny North both scored twice as St. Patrick’s hit six against bottom side Galway United at Richmond Park. O’Connor slid home the opener after just 80 seconds after North and Daryl Kavanagh combined. A harsh handball decision against Korean defender Yob Son allowed Stephen Bradley double that from the penalty spot on 14 minutes. North added a third with a stunning volley on 37 minutes after Galway failed to properly clear Bradley’s corner. Livewire striker North was then there to pull the ball back from the end line for O’Connor to rifle his second to the net off the crossbar five minutes later. In a low key second half, North extended St. Pat’s lead with his second of the night on 76 minute, drilling home an O’Connor cross off a post. Substitute Paul Crowley added a sixth on 80 minutes before Paul Sinnott’s shot squirmed through the hands of St. Pat’s keeper Gary Rogers for Galway’s consolation a minute later. ST PATRICK'S ATHLETIC: Rogers; Pender, E. McMillan, Kenna, Bermingham; O’Connor, McFaul, Bradley (Crowley, 78 mins.), Doyle (D. McMillan, h/t); Kavanagh (Stewart, h/t), North. GALWAY UNITED; Winn; Sinnott, Son, Browne, Holland; Kim (Sibanda, 56 mins.), Murphy, G. Kelly, Walsh; Ryan, Cauldwell (Eduardo, 65 mins.). REFEREE: Graham Kelly (Cork). |
