Bray Wanderers 0-3 Sligo Rovers
Inspired by two early goals from English striker Matthew Blinkhorn, Sligo Rovers made it eight competitive matches unbeaten with an easy victory over an outclassed Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds last night.
This latest victory moves Sligo up to second place in the Airtricity Premier Division table and now just a point behind leaders St.Patrick's Athletic.
It was another disappointing night for the Seagulls after such a promising start to the season. That means it is four defeats in a row with successive losses to St.Patrick's Athletic, Bohemians, Dundalk and now Sligo.
The Westerners had the perfect start when a cross by Alan Keane on the right on three minutes was chested down by Blinkhorn with the striker then firing home on the turn from 14 yards giving 'keeper Matt Gregg no chance.
Winger Alan Kirby then had a chance for the visitors after a misdirected pass by Derek Prnergast. But this time, Gregg was out to block the effort.
Sligo stretched their lead on nine minutes when after a neat exchange between Keane and Josphn Ndo, the Cameroon international provided the perfect cross for Blinkhorn to sidefoot home at the near post.
After that hugely impressive early start It was all one-way traffic in the direction of the Bray goal with Ndo and Richie Ryan totally dominant in the Sligo midfield.
Sligo had another chance on 63 minutes but this time Eoin Doyle had a header just wide of the target after a high cross from Keane on the right.
Irish Under 19 international striker Conor Murphy then had one angled shot well saved by Clarke after Shields had created the opening on the right. It was the one of the few saves of note the Sligo 'keeper had to make in the entire minutes.
The match was over as a contest on 84 minutes when man of the match Ndo sent over a cross from the right which allowed Eoin Doyle to get in a glancing header at the far post to wrap up another precious three points for Sligo. It was the in-form Doyle's 13th league goal of the season.
