BOHEMIANS came from a goal down to beat wasteful Sligo Rovers 2-1 at the Showgrounds.  Second half goals from the impressive Stephen Traynor and Anto Flood inside seven minutes, saw Pat Fenlon’s side inflict a second league defeat on the Bit O’ Red. It had started brightly for the hosts, with Eoin Doyle firing them ahead after just 13 minutes with a cracking left-footed drive past Chris O'Connor. Doyle also saw a header come back off the woodwork after connecting with an Alan Keane cross. John Dillon hit the post before half-time as Sligo continued to press to extend their lead. But Rovers were punished for some sloppy defending on 55 minutes, when the ball was eventually scrambled over the line by Traynor from close range. And seven minutes later the home side were punished again after giving away a free-kick at the edge of the area. Keeper Brendan Clarke was unable to fully deal with Killian Brennan’s stinging effort, and Flood followed in to slide the rebound to the net.  Sligo battled hard to force an equaliser but never really threatened to beat O'Connor and Pat Fenlon's side left with the spoils. Sligo Rovers: Clarke, Keane, Peers, McGuinness, Davoren, Dillon (Blinkhorn 80), Ryan, Russell (Cretaro 64), Ndo, Greene (Horgan 69), Eoin Doyle. Bohemians: O’Connor, Heary, Burns, Price, O’Brien, Buckley, Bayly, Brennan, Cahill (Burke 75), Flood, Traynor. Referee: D Hancock.  |
