A match of no significance produced a hatful of goals as relegated Drogheda, after taking the lead,  came from behind twice to earn a share of the spoils against a Galway side with one eye on their relegation play-off next week which will see them make a bid to avoid the drop.

Drogheda took the lead after seven minutes when Peter McMahons corner was cleared but picked up by Brendan McGill who drove the ball to the net from all of twenty five yards.

With quarter of an hour gone Galway equalised with an identikit strike to their opponents opener as Derek O’Brien latched onto a poor clearance from a corner to smash the ball home from the edge of the box.

The visitors hit the front right on the half hour mark from a Karl Sheppard free which he drove through the wall and past keeper Paul Skinner.  However, their lead was short-lived as the home side levelled matters eight minutes later when Conor Sinnott slipped the ball into Peter McMahon to score.

Both sides failed to reproduce their endeavours of the opening half as the second forty-five minutes ambled along aimlessly until Galway substitute Rory Gartland guided the ball to the net after Skinner had parried David Sheppard’s shot into his path.

Drogheda drew level once more eleven minutes from time in a route one move that saw Skinner knock a free into Jamie Harris who flicked the ball to Darragh McNamara who steered the ball in from a tight angle.
