This was all too easy for Fingal as they comfortably brushed aside bottom of the table Drogheda to keep their push for European football again next season firmly on track.
With the first incident of note the visitors scored after twelve minutes assisted in no small way by a defensive calamity that saw Yael Haro fail to cut out Glen Crowe’s innocuous looking cross which made its way to Conan Byrne who tapped home.
Minutes later Fingal all too easily doubled their advantage when Byrne turned provider from a corner for Colin Hawkins who rose unchallenged to head the ball to the net.
On the run in to half-time two became three as Drogheda’s defence failed to deal with Ger O’Brien’s  delivery from the right which Gary O’Neill bundled over the line.
Chances came and went at either end in the early part of the second half, however, the small attendance had to wait until eight minutes from the end for the final score of the contest.  Kevin Ross chasing back appeared to nick the ball cleanly from Crowe but referee Anthony Buttimer pointed to the penalty spot for Alan Kirby to despatch the kick in style.
Drogheda United:  Duggan, Haro, McNally, McEnteggart (Flood 67), McMahon (Ross 76), Crowley, Osborne, McNamara, Meenan, Daly, Fitzpatrick (Harris 59).  Fingal:  Quigley, O’Brien, Fitzgerald (Quinn 88), Browne, Hawkins, Cahill, Byrne, Finn (Dawson 85), O’Neill, Kirby, Crowe.  Referee:  A. Buttimer (Cork)
