Bohemians were denied the chance to go top of the Premier Division table after they conceded in injury time to draw 1-1 with St Patrick's Athletic at Dalymount Park on Friday.  The Gypsies took the lead on 4 minutes when Glenn Cronin played a pass out to Killian Brennan and he provided the perfect cross for Owen Heary to head in from close range.  That early goal led to the home side dominating play for much of the first-half, although there were few chances of note for Pat Fenlon's men during that period.  Mark Quigley came closest to doubling their lead on 38 minutes when he profited from a deflection off Dave Mulcahy and shot on the turn, but his effort was wide of the post.  St Pat's didn't fare any better with Damian Lynch's volley comfortably gather by keeper Barry Murphy and Derek Pender's long-range drive failing to hit the target.  In the second-half, there was a noticeable improvement from the visitors when Garreth O'Connor and David McAllister were introduced as part of a double substitution.  Suddenly, the Saints started to press their opponents back as Bohs struggled to create many clear-cut chances despite their best efforts.  Then just as the Premier Division champions thought they had won the game, Mulcahy popped up with an injury-time equalisier to ensure Pete Mahon's side escaped with a point.  Bohemians: Murphy; Shelley, Heary, Oman, Rossiter; McGlynn, Keegan, Cronin, Brennan; Quigley (Greene 78), Madden.  Substitutes Not Used: O'Connor, McGuinness, Higgins, Byrne.  St Patrick's Athletic: Rogers; Pender, Kenna, Guthrie, Lynch; Cash (P Byrne 35), S Byrne (O’Connor 64), Mulcahy, Doyle; Guy, North (McAllister 64).  Substitutes Not Used: Bennion, Bermingham.  Referee: A Kelly (Cork). |
