Drogheda United - Bohemians
Friday, 09 July 2010 09:47

A localised electrical fault in the vicinity of Hunky Dorys Park saw the lights go out at the break and referee Anthony Buttimer was forced to abandon the match with Bohemians a goal to the good.

A poor opening 20 minutes culminated with Paddy Madden driving in from the right and cutting the ball back to Raffaele Cretaro whose shot towards goal was blocked down by Corie Treacy.

Approaching the half hour Bohemians were awarded a dubious free on the edge of the United box however Ruaidhri Higgins effort found keeper Paul Murphy well placed to make the save.

The visitors made the breakthrough in the 31st minute with the simplest of goals when Mark Quigley clipped a ball in from the left which the in-form Paddy Madden headed past Murphy.

However, the defending champions weren’t afforded the opportunity to build on their half-time advantage as the gods dictated that this one wouldn’t conclude for the time being at least.

Drogheda United: Murphy, Treacy, Kendrick, McNally, McGill, Duffy, Flood, Osborne, McMahon, Daly, Brennan.

Bohemians: Murphy, Heary, Powell, Higgins, Shelley, Oman, McGlynn, Keegan, Madden, Quigley, Cretaro.

Referee: A. Buttimer (Cork).
