Goals from Padraig Amond and Gavin Peers saw Sligo Rovers overcome UCD at the UCD Bowl.

Amond struck inside the first minute to give the visitors the perfect start. Richie Ryan fired the ball into the box and the league’s top scorer struck from close range.

The Bit O’Red threatened to breach the home goal on numerous occasions in the first half but could not find the killer touch to double their lead.

UCD almost got back on level terms on 34 minutes but Corry’s strike went narrowly over the crossbar.

Sligo doubled their lead on 47 minutes when Gavin Peers headed home from Joey Ndo’s cross.

The game ended on a sour note for both clubs as Alan Keane was shown a red card for a tackle on Nangle, before Greg Bolger was given his marching orders in added time. .
