Mark Quigley came off the bench to score a precious late winner for Bohemians against Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds.
Quigley struck with just five minutes left, as the league champions secured a late win for the second successive game. Jason Byrne had edged Bohs ahead on 33 minutes before Matthew Blinkhorn responded for Rovers just before the hour-mark. But Quigley latched onto Aaron Greene's cross to shoot past Richard Brush and seal the win. Byrne's first significant involvement came on 28 minutes, when he raced onto Murphy's pass over the top, but his shot flashed across goal and wide. But there was to be no mistake with his next chance, as his out-stretched leg directed Paul Keegan's cross past Brush and into the net. Rovers were a rejuvenated side in the second period, and dominated the exchanges. They deservedly equalised on 58 minutes, when Conor O'Grady's pressure earned the home side a corner, and Ndo swung it in for an unmarked Blinkhorn to head home. Rovers could have gone in front just two minutes later, when O'Grady fed McCabe in the area. The former Bray winger did well to make space, but saw his shot bounce off the crossbar. Bohs reacted by introducing Mark Quigley and Aaron Greene, and the substitutes combined to seal the win as Greene broke down the left before crossing for Quigley to tap home.
