Bohemians ended their losing streak with an impressive 2-0 victory over Sporting Fingal at Morton Stadium. Consecutive defeats to Shamrock Rovers, Galway United and Dundalk had seen Bohemians slump to their worst run of form since Pat Fenlon took over first team affairs at the club. However, goals from Paul Keegan and Gareth McGlynn gave the Gypsies an important win over Liam Buckley’s Sporting Fingal side. Fingal almost took the lead on 37 minutes but Kenny Browne’s header rebounded off the post and to safety. And just one minute later it was the visitors who had taken the lead, Anto Murphy crossing into the box and Paul Keegan heading home. The visitors doubled their lead just five minutes later when Gareth McGlynn fired home from outside the penalty area. Bohs controlled the game in the second half and the home side failed to create any real opportunities. Insult was added to injury late on when Lorcan Fitzgerald was dismissed for his second yellow card. Sporting Fingal: D. Quigley; O'Brien, Paisley, Browne, Fitzgerald; C. Byrne, Finn, McFaul (Kirby 76), Williams (James 76); O'Neill, Crowe (Zayed 68). Bohemians: B. Murphy; Shelley, Oman, McGuinness, Rossiter; Cretaro (A. Murphy 31 [Higgins 90]), Keegan, Cronin, M. Quigley; McGlynn, Byrne (Madden 51). Referee: A. Buttimer (Cork) |
