Gary O’Neill could have opened the scoring on seven minutes but his shot from inside the box went high over the crossbar. Eamon Zayed was next to trouble the home rear-guard, but his header on 19 minutes also went over the bar. Fingal had slightly the better of the first half, but it was the home side who created the first real chance of the second half when Alex Williams shot wide. Both goalkeepers were in fine form – Gary Rogers keeping O’Neill at bay, while Brendan Clarke saved shots from Ryan Guy and Vinny Faherty. St Patrick's Ath: Rogers; Pender, Bermingham, Kenna, Guthrie; McAllister (Cash 58), S Byrne, Mulcahy, Guy; A Williams (Doyle 90), Faherty (P Byrne 78). Sporting Fingal: Clarke; O'Brien, Frost, S Williams, Maher; Browne, C Byrne (Quinn 73), Kirby, McFaul, O'Neill (Crowe 80); Zayed. Referee: A Buttimer. |
