Dundalk shared a point with St Patrick's Athletic in a 0-0 draw at Oriel Park on Friday evening as both teams further extended their unbeaten starts to the season. Â Alex Williams, playing against his former club, was first to try his luck with a snap shot inside the opening 10 minutes as St Pat's tried to take an early advantage. Â Tom Miller and Wayne Hatswell came close for The Lilywhites, who once again showed in glimpses that they can be a real attacking tour de force once they get going. Â David McAllister gave the hosts a wake-up call with a stunning shot from long-range that was saved by Dundalk keeper Peter Cherrie, who also did well to deny Conor Kenna later on in the game. Â Hatswell again threatened to break the deadlock with a powerful header, but Gary Rogers was up to the task of denying the experienced defender. Â As time was ticking down Williams broke through and should have finished, although Cherrie denied his former team-mate with a crucial block. Â Dundalk: Cherrie; Kelly, G Breen, Burns, Hatswell; Maher, Miller, Melligan; Kudozovic, Fenn, Gaynor. Â Substitutes Not Used: Gregg, Synnott, McGuigan, J Breen, Smith.
