A thrilling Louth derby saw Dundalk and Drogheda United share the points after an exciting fight-back from the Lilywhites at Oriel Park. Trailing 2-0 after a quarter of the match, Ian Foster's Dundalk side fought-back to earn a point in front of a large crowd. The game got off to a bad start when Drogheda full-back Corie Treacy had to be brought to hospital after just five minutes after he clashed heads with JJ Melligan and Michael Daly. After a short stoppage, the game resumed and the visitors took the lead almost straight away. John Flood's header was saved but Glen Fitzpatrick was on hand to cooly slot home. The lead was doubled soon after when Tom Miller was judged to have handled in the area. Joe Kendrick made no mistake from the spot to send the visiting supporters wild. Dundalk struggled to make their mark on the match. However, they were handed a lifeline on 62 minutes when ex-Dundalk midfielder Michael Daly was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence. Daly was sent off three times for Dundalk last season and earned his first red card in Drogheda's colours in just the second match of the season. Just seconds later the home side were back in the match. Neal Fenn's cross struck the arm of Brian King and Fenn himself dispatched the penalty. With ten minutes remaining, the score was finally level. Paul Skinner could only block Fenn's shot and Fahrudin Kudozovic tapped home from close range.
