A second half UCD blitzed stunned Drogheda United at United Park and gave Martin Russell's visiting team the perfect start to the new campaign.

Newly promoted UCD can be confident of a prolonged stay in the top flight if this performance is anything to go by. Scoreless after an hour, three goals inside the final 25 minutes silenced the home crowd as UCD ran out 3-0 winners.

Ciaran Kilduff was on target twice, opening the scoring on 65 minutes and adding another in the final minute, with Greg Bolger getting on the scoresheet after 67 minutes.
