Bohemians had to settle for one point at The Showgrounds, after being held to a scoreless draw by Sligo Rovers.

The draw extends the Gypsies lead at the top of the table to two points, while Sligo Rovers, with nine points from their opening eight matches, go to seventh place in the table.

Sligo Rovers were unchanged from the side that defeated Derry City last week, while Bohemians found places in the starting XI for Gary Deegan, suspended for last week's victory over St. Patrick's Athletic, and Ken Oman, recently returned from injury.

The home side twice almost took the lead in the early period of the match. Gavin Peers rose highest in the penalty area and headed the ball towards goal, only for it to be deflected wide amongst a sea of defenders.

On 15 minutes, Owen Morrison's free kick had the beating of Brian Murphy, but the crossbar saved the visitors.

Both sides continued to press but somehow neither goal was breached, with both sides having to settle for a point.
