Denis Behan struck late to claim maximum points for Cork City in an exciting match at Oriel Park. Chris Turner had put Dundalk ahead shortly after the hour mark but an equalier from Billy Dennehy and a late winner from Behan ensured that it was the Leesiders who would leave with the three points. In an evenly matched contest, it took until after the hour mark for either side to break the deadlock. George O'Callaghan, facing his former club, delivered a superb ball into the box and Turner brilliantly placed his header past Dan Connor in the Cork goal. However, Dennehy put the Leesiders back into the match with 15 minutes remaining when he toe-poked the ball home from close range. And it was Paul Doolin's side who would win the contest, with Behan sliding home late on to seal the win. Cork City: Connor, Murphy, O'Halloran, Murray, Healy, Gamble, Silagailis (Kuduzovic, 68 mins), Dennehy, Duggan, Beehan, Sullivan. Dundalk: Bennion, Coburn, Burns, Heary, Rogers; Turner, Daly, O'Callaghan, Singh (Rowe, 67 mins), Mansaram, Mulvenna. |
