Bray Wanderers recorded their fourth draw of the Premier Division campaign but will be ruing a series of missed chances as four times they struck the Dundalk woodwork in a tense clash at the Carlisle Grounds.

The Seagulls had two early chances when first Gary McCabe drilled a shot just wide of the target from the edge of the box. Then on 12 minutes a cross  from Jake Kelly on the left was miscued off the knee of striker John Flood and onto the crossbar with 'keeper Ryan Coulter beaten.

Dundalk settled and went close to breaking the deadlock when Chris Turner sent in a perfect cross from the right for Darren Mansaram to get in a shot deflected for a corner by Chris Deans.

Then an excellent switch of passes between Mansaram and Declan O'Brien enabled Harpal Singh to get in a cross from the left for O'Brien to get in a header which rebounded off the woodwork to safety.

The visitors should really have taken the lead on 38 minutes when midfielder George  O'Callaghan found an opening for Mansaram. But his effort  was brilliantly pushed away by goalkeeper Chris O'Connor.

Bray did have a chance of breaking the deadlock when a ball down the left by Dane Massey allowed Kelly to get in another dangerous cross only for Flood's header to hit the bar and rebound to safety.

After O'Connor had saved well from O'Brien, Dundalk at last took the lead on 43 minutes when an O'Callaghan cross from the left was cleverly flicked home from six yards by the alert O'Brien.

But Bray were level in the first minute of added time in the first half when referee Anthony Buttimer adjudged that Dundalk defender Simon Kelly had taken down Jake Kelly inside the box. It seemed a harsh decision, but winger Kelly made no mistake with his spot kick.

Chris Shields almost had the Seagulls in front  on 67 minutes. After accepting a pass from Massey on the left, he let fly from 25 yards with the ball striking the angle of the upright of crossbar and upright. From the rebound substitute Gareth Coughlan drove the tamely into the arms of 'keeper Coulter.

Bray again hit the woodwork on when substitute John Mulroy provided a pefect ball for striker Paul Byrne on 80 minutes only to see his angled shot rebound off the upright.

Simon Kelly, who had been booked earlier, was shown the red card on 85 minutes after a midfield foul on Bray winger Gary McCabe as both teams seemed to settle for a share of the spoils.
