Derry City blitzed St. Patrick's Athletic at Richmond Park, scoring three times against the Saints in the opening half to take all three points in this Premier Division fixture.

Goals from Thomas Stewart, Gareth McGlynn and Ciaran Martyn gave the Candystripes a 3-0 lead by the 39th minute, a lead the visitors never looked like giving up. Not even the second half dismissal of Steven Gray could offer the home side a way back into this match.

Stewart opened the scoring after 9 minutes when he poked home from close range, with McGlynn doubling the score after 33 minutes. The Derry midfielder struck home from 20 yards to give 'keeper Gary Rogers no chance.

The rout was completed on 39 minutes when Ger O'Brien delivered a superb cross into the box for Martyn to head home on 39 minutes.

Derry City remained in control of the match, although the dismissal of Gray on 69 minutes for a second bookable offence did allow the home side come back into the match slightly.
