Bohemians recaptured top spot in the League of Ireland after defeating Dublin rivals St. Patrick's Athletic 3-1 at Dalymount Park.

The win over the Saints was made even sweater for Gypsies fans by the news that Cork City had defeated Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght, with the combination of results sending Pat Fenlon's side back on top of the Premier Division

Jason Byrne opened the scoring on 23 minutes when he pounced on a poor back pass from Bobby Ryan and finished past Brendan Clarke.

Ken Oman doubled the home side's lead on 31 minutes when he headed home from Paul Keegan's free kick.

The match was over as a contest on 50 minutes when Killian Brennan fired home from 20 yards.

Mark Quigley scored a consolation for the Saints in the dying minutes but it was not enough to stop the Gypsies from storming back on top of the division.
