Drogheda United rescued a point against local rivals Dundalk when James Chambers fired home an equalising goal in the 90th minute.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international scored twice to give the Boynesiders a precious point in their battle against the drop. Chambers put Drogheda ahead on 10 minutes when he fired home a spectacular free kick from 30 yards out.

However, the celebrations did not last long as Ger Rowe equalised almost immediately when he headed home Chris Turner's corner kick.

The Lilywhites were ahead on the stroke of half-time when Darren Mansaram cooly finished after Rowe had put him through on goal.

Not for the first time this season, Dundalk found themselves with reduced numbers on 58 minutes. This time it was Michael Daly who was given his marching orders after he hauled down Conor Kenna.

Despite having the extra man, it appeared as though Drogheda would not find the goal they needed to level matters. That changed right at the death, however, when Chambers was the hero.
