Bray Wanderers stay anchored at the bottom of the table after this battle of the two Premier Division basement clubs ended with honours shared in an entertaining clash at the Carlisle Grounds last night.
Sligo looked the sharper early on when after good build-up work between Romuald Boco and Owen Morrison , striker Matthew Blinkhorn headed just wide.
But the Westerners had their noses in front on six minutes when a long ball out of defence by Alan Keane was missed by Dave Webster and Rafael Cretaro was allowed to fire home from 16 yards.
Bray were level on 22 minutes when substitute Jake Kelly won a header just outside the box to enable midfielder Dane Massey to drill home a low shot from 16 yards to the corner of the net with 'keeper Richard Brush beaten.
Sligo went close to going back in front on 27 minutes when a Cretaro shot was blocked by Bray 'keeper Chris O'Connor only for Blinkhorn's effort on the rebound taken off the line by Chris Deans.
Then a long ball from defender Joe Kendrick allowed the pace of Cretaro to get a shot on target on the turn with O'Connor getting down well to save. And it was Aussie O'Connor who again came to the home side's rescue when a Kendrick cross saw Blinkhorn's final effort blocked by the keeper's legs.
Sligo were not to be denied and deservedly again went in front on 43 minutes when Cretaro ran on to a misjudged back header by Derek Pender to lob the ball over the advancing O'Connor for his ninth league goal and his fifth against Bray this season.
But it was Bray who were level on on 47 minutes when Kelly was taken down in the area by defender Keane. Gary McCabe made no mistake with resulting penalty shooting low into the corner of the net.
O'Connor performed more heroics for the Seagulls on 61 minutes when getting down to save well from Eoin Doyle after the always dangerous Cretaro had set up the chance.
Bray midfielder Dave Mulcahy was shown the red card on 78 minutes for a foul on Cretaro for a second bookable offence.
