Bohemians stretched their lead at the top of the Premier Division with a 2-0 win over Dundalk at Oriel Park on Friday evening.

Glen Crowe put The Gypsies ahead on 15 minutes when Jason Byrne squared to his strike partner following a spilled shot from goalkeeper Chris Bennion.

Already 1-0 down, Dundalk's task was made more difficult just seconds later when midfielder Michael Daly was shown a straight red for a foul on Killian Brennan.

Despite their numerical advantage, Bohemians did not create that many chances.

However, Brennan rubbed salt into the wounds when he doubled the visitors lead on 86 minutes after Byrne set up the winger.

Dundalk: Bennion; Shaun Kelly, Burns, Heary, Simon Kelly; Daly, Turner (Mulvenna 80), Collins, O'Brien (Synnott 89); Rowe, Williams.

Bohemians: Murphy; Rossiter, Oman, Shelley, Powell; Byrne, Ndo, Keegan, Brennan; Crowe, Madden (Hughes 90).

Referee: Richie Winter (Wicklow).
