A good nights work at Dalymount Park saw Bohemians defeat Sligo Rovers to maintain their place at the top of the Premier Division table. The Gypsies ran out 2-0 winners on the night, with goals from Gary Deegan and Jason Byrne giving the Dubliners all three points. The Bohs fans went home happy, especially after word came from Turner's Cross that Cork City had fallen to a 2-1 defeat to Dundalk. The only disappointment for the Gypsies came in the form of Derry City defeating Bray Wanderers to remain within one point of Pat Fenlon's side. Bohemians controlled this match from start to finish and yet it took them 52 minutes to break the deadlock when Deegan finished from close range after Anto Murphy had crossed. Sligo were without several key players and they never really got a grip of the match. The home side doubled their lead on 73 minutes when Steve Feeney was ruled to have handled the ball in the penalty area, with Jason Byrne making no mistake from the spot. Bohemians: Brian Murphy; Owen Heary (capt), Brian Shelley, Ken Oman (Jason McGuinness 88 mins), Conor Powell; Anto Murphy (Joseph Ndo 69 mins), Gary Deegan, Glenn Cronin, Killian Brennan; Glen Crowe (Neale Fenn 72 mins), Jason Byrne. Sligo Rovers: Richard Brush; Brian Cash, Steve Feeney, Alan Keane, Danny Keohane; Owen Torpey, Conor O'Grady (capt), Christopher Kelly (Danny Fallon 69 mins), Sean Doherty; Paul Curry, Owen Morrison. |
