FAI Ford Cup holders Sligo Rovers have been paired with First Division promotion-chasers Monaghan United in the Fourth Round of the competition.  The draw was made by FAI vice-president Tony Fitzgerald and Republic of Ireland under-19 international team manager Paul Doolin on RTE’s MNS show. The Bit O’Red beat Monaghan in the final of the EA SPORTS Cup last year so it will offer Roddy Collins’s men a chance to atone for that loss. A number of derby matches came out of the drum with Dublin junior outfit Sheriff YC drew local rivals Shelbourne. The AUL side are based in the capital’s north inner city and their home ground in Fairview is less than a mile for Tolka Park. Sheriff YC boss Paul Ussher said: “It’s a great draw to look forward to for the start of our season in August. A few of our guys have played for Shelbourne when they were younger so they’ll be looking forward to it.†Four days after surprisingly beating their Co Louth rivals Dundalk at Oriel Parkin a league tie, Drogheda United were handed a home tie against the Lilywhites. Another repeat of Friday night’s fixtures was the pairing of Shamrock Rovers and UCD. The FAI Ford Cup Fourth Round ties are scheduled for the weekending August 26-28. FAI Ford Cup Fourth Round draw: Shamrock Rovers v UCD; Waterford United v St Patrick’s Athletic; Bray Wanderers v Limerick FC; Longford Town v Bohemians; Wexford Youths v Cork City; Sligo Rovers v Monaghan United; Sheriff YC v Shelbourne; Drogheda United v Dundalk.  |
