LONGFORD TOWN beat Finn Harps in a tightly contested FAI Ford Cup Third Round Replay at Finn Park.

A late winner from Mark Salmon sent Tony Cousins' Longford side into the fourth round.

With the replay looking set for extra-time, Town struck for the only goal of the game against the run of play on 82 minutes.

Town striker Lee Roche was taken down inside the area by Harps defender Packie Mailey.

And though Salmon’s penalty was parried by keeper Ciaran Gallagher, the striker followed up to slot home the rebound.
