WEXFORD native Paul Murphy scored twice as there was no glory for cup debutants New Ross at the RSC as they were roundly beaten by managerless Blues. The lead came six minutes before the break when Willie John Kiely got away down the right to cross for partner Murphy to fire past keeper Aaron Deegan. The lead was doubled on 57 minutes with Murphy volleying home Michael Coady's cross. Substitute Dwayne Wilson added Blues' third goal with his first touch, scooping home the rebound after Deegan failed to hold Murphy's shot. Murphy then missed the chance of his hat-trick in stoppage time when his poor penalty was saved by Deegan.
