EA SPORTS Cup finalists meet ahead of Saturday's final
Wednesday, 21 September 2011 21:19

EA SPORTS Cup Finalists Cork City and Derry City went head to head in the build-up to Saturday's intriguing final meeting between the two sides.

Cork City pair Vincent Escude-Candela and Ian Turner and Candystripes duo Ruaidhri Higgins and David McDaid met at the Aviva Stadium in advance of the Turner's Cross clash between the two sides.

The quartet were on hand to help announce the inclusion of the EA SPORTS Cup competition in the FIFA 2012 game.

FIFA 2012 is the much-anticipated latest version of the most famous football game in the world and the inclusion of the EA SPORTS Cup in the newest version is another step forward for Irish football on the international stage.

Managers Tommy Dunne and Stephen Kenny - who played against each other many times in schoolboy football - were also present at the meeting in Dublin and both bosses are looking forward to a potentially cracking finale.

"It's a cup final and obviously once you get to that stage you want to win it," said Cork City boss Dunne. "We know from playing Derry City last season how good a side they are and they've been excellent in the Premier Division so it should be a very good final."

Derry City boss Kenny said: "It is never easy going down to Turner's Cross to play Cork at the best of times but it is going to be even more testing an occasion given that it is a cup final. We've a good record in this competition and the players and management team at Derry City are proud of that record. We'd like to keep it going by winning this game."
