Record nine-time winner Derry eased into the last eight with a workmanlike win over First Division Mervue at the Brandywell. ÂStephen Kenny's second string side had the perfect start with the lead goal after just seven minutes.  David McDaid was fouled by keeper Ger Hanley to win a penalty and then sent him the wrong way from the resultant spot kick.  Michael McCrudden added the second goal eleven minute into the second half when Stephen Parkhouse knocked down McDaid's cross for the striker to fire past Hanley.  Alex Lee pulled a goal back for Mervue two minutes into added time.  |
