BRAY WANDERERS and Drogheda United will clash in the tie of the EA Sports Cup First Round at the Carlisle Grounds tonight. Pat Devlin's Seagulls have got off to an impressive start in the Airtricity League Premier Division with two wins and a draw from their opening four league games. Wanderers will be without Chris Shields, who left Belfield on crutches having been injured in the final minutes of Friday's win over UCD, Gary Shaw (ankle) and Colm Tresson(calf). Derek Prendergast (hamstring),and Danny O'Connor (knee) are also doubts and Bray could draft in some of their younger squad members. Drogheda have had a testing start to the new campaign under recently appointed manager Mick Cooke and suffereda 2-0 loss in Sligo on Friday. FC Carlow will play one of the biggest game's of their fledgling careers when they travel to Tolka Park to meet Shelbourne. While the Carlow name was drawn first, giving them home advantage, they agreed to switch to the Dublin venue. FC Carlow play in the Newstalk ‘A’ Championship and are in Pool 2, along with Bray Wanderers, Limerick, Galway United, Shamrock Rovers, Cobh Ramblers, Tralee Dynamos and St Patrick’s Athletic. That league kicks-off next weekend.
