SHAMROCK ROVERS beat Sligo Rovers 2-1 at Tallaght Stadium in the second leg of the Setanta Sports Cup semi-final.
Eoin Doyle scored with a fourth minute header to give the Bit O'Red a glimmer of hope of turning the 2-0 first leg around.
Karl Sheppard levelled matters on the night four minutes later when he drilled home from eight yards out after connecting with a low left wing cross by Billy Dennehy. Brilliant attacking play by Ronan Finn set Dennehy up to put the Hoops in front in the 25th minute. The Hoops maintained control of the tie and progressed 4-1 on aggregate to meet Dundalk in the final on May 14 at a venue to be confirmed. |
