Oriel Park      7.35pm [Live on RTE TWO] The clash of the champions will officially kick-off the 2009 League of Ireland season when Premier Division title holders Bohemians make the trip to Oriel Park to face First Division champions Dundalk. Several ex-Gypsies are now on the books at Dundalk, including manager Sean Connor, which is sure to add extra spice to this eagerly anticipated show-down. New Lilywhites striker Darren Mansaram looks set to miss the opportunity to face his former club as a groin strain will keep him sidelined for a week. Otherwise, Dundalk are at full strength, with the likes of Declan O’Brien, George O’Callaghan and Michael Collins set to receive their competitive debuts for Dundalk. Bohemians are missing four players for the trip to Louth – Conor Powell, Sean Byrne, Ken Oman and Jason Byrne are all ruled out of the first match of the season, while Mark Rossiter is rated as doubtful. Oman’s absence will see Owen Heary move to centre-half, with new signing Brian Shelley occupying the right-back position. Kick-off at Oriel Park is at the earlier time of 7.35pm in order to facilitate live television coverage on RTE TWO. Supporters are advised to arrive at the ground early as a large crowd is expected. |
