SALTHILL DEVONÂ held Longford Town to pick up their eleventh point of the season.Â
Longford Town 1 Salthill Devon 1
James Whelan’s second half equaliser earned bottom of the table Salthill Devon a battling draw at Flancare Park.
The point was, nonetheless, enough to lift Town above Waterford United into fifth place in the First Division table. Tony Cousins' midlanders, however, now only have one game left to play, away to Cork City next week.
In their last home game of the season, Town bossed proceedings from early on and got their lead goal on the half hour.
Austin Skelly won a corner which was finished to the net by central defender Chris Deans.
But Devon hit back to level on 58 minutes. Brian Gaffney was given far too much time and space inside the Town area to set up defender Whelan to shoot past Alvin Rouse. |
