MONAGHAN UNITED stay in the promotion race thanks to a home win over Wexford Youths, Monaghan United 2 Wexford Youths 0 Declan O’Brien's first goal in two months helped Monaghan back to winning ways as they edged to within a point of second-placed Shelbourne. “Fabio” redeemed missing a bit of a sitter in the opening minutes to put Monaghan in front on seven minutes when racing through onto Eric Foley’s pass and shooting beyond Packie Holden. Monaghan remained on top and sealed the points on 82 minutes when midfielder John Reilly’s 25-yard drive beat Holden.
