Cork City hit seven in Athlone

Derek O’Brien scored twice as Cork City recorded their biggest win of the season to regain second place in the table.
Cork utterly dominated from the start and the only surprise was it took them 33 minutes to get their lead.
Winger O’Brien, who’d hit the crossbar minutes earlier, put over a cross which evaded everyone to beat Town keeper Michael Schlingermann and end up in the net.
Just over a minute later it was 2-0. Midfielder Daryl Horgan shot against the bar and Davin O’Neill followed up to scoop home the rebound.
Midfielder Shane Duggan then ended the game as a contest five minutes before the interval with an accomplished finish after a good passing move.
Horgan played a one-two to fire home and make it 4-0 two minutes into the second half before O’Brien got his second of the night in the 64th minute.
Left-back Danny Murphy got in on the goal glut to add the sixth goal on 81 minutes, tapping home at the back post from Horgan’s cross.
Striker Vinny Sullivan headed Cork's seventh goal three minutes from time.
