Athlone Town 0 Finn Harps 1Kevin McHugh’s tenth goal of the season earned Finn Harps their third win in four games as Athlone suffered a fourth defeat on the spin.

 

The only note of a dour first half thankfully brought what proved the game’s only goal on 20 minutes.

Veteran striker McHugh found space some 22 yards out and let fly with a low drive that beat Town keeper Michael Schlingermann.

Town should have been level four minutes into the second half.

Wayne Colbert put half-time substitute Noel McGee through on goal, but his shot from close range was turned round a post off the legs of keeper Ciaran Gallagher.
