Limerick FC 1 Salthhill Devon 1 A late equaliser from Brain Geraghty deprived promotion-chasing Limerick of two valuable points at Jackman Park as bottom side Devon earned an unlikely draw. As expected, Limerick had much of the play throughout, but failed to build on Denis Behan's first minute lead goal. Defender Geraghty then struck on 81 minutes when beating Shane Cussack with a fine 20 yard drvie. Behan, who'd scored three times in Limerick's previous two games, had struck to punish a defensive error to give Limerick the perfect start with the lead inside the opening minute.
Mervue United 1 Cork City 2 Graham Cummins scored twice as ten man Cork kept up their promotion bid with a battling win at Fahy's Field. Striker Cummins put Cork in front after just five minutes when heading in the rebound after keeper Ger Hanley couldn't hold a stinging Danny Murphy drive. Frenchman Vincent Escude-Candau provided the cross for Cummins to head in his and Cork's second goal on 42 minutes. But City then had midfielder Shane Duggan sent off for a two-footed challenge on Mervue midfielder Alex Lee. Mervue then really made a match of it when getting a goal back three minutes into the second half when Pat Hoban converted a peantly after Kalen Spillane had taken down Peter Dravins.
Monaghan United 3 Waterford United 1 Monaghan showed their battling qualities as they came from behind to keep their push from promotion on course. Blues took the lead in the first minute through Adam McSherry who stunned the home side to shoot past keeper Gabriel Sava. But Roddy Collins' side hit back to level on 26 minutes when Sean Brennan chipped Blues' keeper Kevin Burns following Jordan Keegan's flick. Brennan and Keith Quinn then set up Keegan to fire Monaghan in front on 38 minutes. Substitute Michael Isichei sealed Monaghan's win on 83 minutes with a header from Brennan's free-kick.
Wexford Youths 1 Longford Town 3 Thomas Hyland scored at the right end this week to help earn Longford victory at Ferrycarrig Park. Defender Hyland had put through his own goal in last week's home defeat to leaders Shelbourne but made amends with Town's leveller on 66 minutes form Craig Walsh's corner. Youths had lead from the 40th minute when Danny Furlong raced through to shoot past keeper Alvin Rouse. Having provided the equaliser, Walsh then put Town in front on 79 minutes. But midfielder Walsh was then sent off on 90 minutes for a foul on substitute Jeff Flood before Mark Salmon sealed Town's win with a penatly two minutes into stoppage time.
