Salmon double sees Longford beat Harps
Saturday, 09 July 2011 23:33

MARK SALMON scored twice and was then sent off as Longford came from behind to get their first win in six league games.

Harps snatched a third minute lead when defender Keith Cowan headed home Mark Forker’s free kick.

Salmon levelled with his first from a penalty 12 minutes into the second half after Lee Roche was fouled inside the area.

A stunning goal from striker Don Cowan put Town in front on 72 minutes, his powerful shot finding the top corner after a surging run from deep.

Within three minutes, Harps hit back through veteran striker Kevin McHugh whose 30 yard drive flew past Town keeper Paul Hunt.

But Town found their winner within a further three minutes. Salmon showed good feet to slalom  into the box, round keeper Ciaran Gallagher and slide the ball home.

Not so happily, four minutes into added time midfielder Salmon received a second booking and was sent off.
