ALAN MATHEWS saw his Shelbourne side continue their impressive start to the campaign with a 4-0 First Division win in Athlone.

CONAN BYRNE scored twice as Shelbounre maintained their unbeaten start to the league season in easing to victory at the Athlone Stadium to regain the leadership of the First Division table.
Fellow winger Brendan McGill did the spade work for the opening goal on 37 minutes when getting down the flank to cross for Byrne to apply the finish to give Shels' first half dominance its due reward.
Byrne doubled Shels' lead with a fine solo goal two minutes into the second half.
Philly Hughes got Shels' third goal on 88 minutes with Brendan McGuill again the instigator. His cross eventually ran to Hughes who tucked the ball past keeper Michael Schlingermann.
Substitute Chris Mulhall added a fourth goal two minutes into stoppage time after working a one-two with Byrne following a short corner.
The win moves Alan Mathews' Reds a point clear of Cork City at the top of the table with a game in hand.
