SHANE DUGGAN fired a derby winner against Waterford United to put Cork City top of the First Division.  Waterford United  1  Cork City  2  CORK CITY came from behind to win the Munster derby at the RSC as Tommy Dunne's Rebels went top of the table over night.  Blues took the lead on on 39 minutes when Paul Murphy's free-kick, following a foul on Conor Sinnottt, took a deflection off the defensive wall to wrong foot City keeper Mark McNulty and enter the net.  But Cork levelled right on 45 minutes through assistant manager Greg O'Halloran when the midfielder latched onto Graham Cummins' cushioned header to shoot past Kevin Burns.  Keith Quinn rattled the Cork crossbar on the hour mark before City hit the winner against the run of play on 74 minutes.  A Davin O'Neill cross deflects to O'Halloran who set up Shane Duggan to finish neatly.   Limerick FC 0  Wexford Youths 1  A stoppage time winner from Shane Nolan earned Wexford Youths their first points of the season to stun promotion-contenders Limerick at Jackman Park.  Into the second minute of added time and the match seemingly set for a 0-0 draw, substitute Nolan spotted Barry Ryan off his line and lobbed the Limerick keeper for a stunning goal.  Limerick had their chances with Chris Breen firing wide while Youths' keeper Packie Holden made the save of the game from Limerick skipper Par Purcell on 85 minutes.  The win lifts Youths, managed by one-time Limerick boss Noel O'Connor, off the foot of the table.   Finn Harps  0  Salthill Devon  0  Both sides finished with ten men as Salthill earned a battling point at Finn Park.  Devon's Etanda Nkololo came closest to breaking the deadlock five minutes before half-time when his long range lob caught Harps' keeper Ciaran Gallagher off his line, but the ball bounced over off the top of his crossbar.  Victory Collins was the first to see red on 71 minutes when the Devon striker was sent off by referee John McLauglin when booked for dissent, seconds after receiving his first card for a bad tackle on Ciaran Coll.  Harps' midfielder Marc Brolly was also dismissed six minutes later for a two-footed challenge on Gearoid O'Leidhinn.   Monaghan United  1  Longford Town  0  Declan O'Brien hit a winner as Monaghan moved up to second in the table.  "Fabio" O'Brien scored both goals in last week's 2-2 draw at Cork City and struck for the only goal of the night right on the blow of the interval.  A poor clearance from Town defender Chris Deans fell to veteran striker O'Brien whose goal-poaching instinct prevailed as he shot past visiting keeper Paul Hunt.  The woodwork then deprived Keith Gillespie of an equaliser deep into stoppage time at the death.  With virtually the last kick of the match, the former Manchester United and Northern Ireland winger saw his stunning free-kick come back off a post. |
