Northeast rivals Finn Harps threw a spanner in Derry City's title aspirations as they stole a point from the Brandywell to prevent the Candystripes from all but clinching promotion. Matthew Crossan was the Harps' hero with both their goals as Derry had to come from behind twice. Crossan put Harps in front on 12 minutes when rifling home the rebound after his initial free-kick came back off the defensive wall. Derry responded within three minutes as in-form Patrick McEleney cut through the visitors' defence to shoot beyond Gavin Cullen. But Crossan restored Harps' lead with a terrific free-kick just four minutes later. Mark Farren equalised for Derry on 27 minutes. Cullen could only parry a shot from McEleney and Farren arrived to score his 15th goal of the season. Farren came within inches of winning it for Derry ten minutes from time, but just couldn't connect with McEleney's cross. |
