A brace of goals from Willie John Kiely moved Waterford United to within two points of second-placed Monaghan as they beat Longford Town 2-0 at Flancare Park.

Blues had the ideal start with the lead goal after just two minutes. Kiely latched onto Paul Murphy's ball to shoot past keeper Stephen Conlon.

The same pair combined for Kiely to head home his 16th goal of the season ten minutes into the second half.
