Shelbourne beat Mervue United 3-0 at Tolka Park to stay fourth, two points behind Waterford. Mark Leech missed an early sitter before fellow striker Marc Hughes showed him where the goal was to stab home a corner for the lead goal on 33 minutes. Leech made amends for his first half miss to double Shels' lead four minutes after the break when blasting home after seconds earlier seeing his header come back off the bar. Overworked Mervue keeper Ger Hanley then saved a penalty from David Cassidy on 57 minutes before Shels got their third goal 12 minutes from time when defender Ian Ryan headed home a Cassidy free-kick. |
