Waterford United moved to within a point of now second-placed Monaghan United with a convincing 3-0 home win over Limerick, who lost for the second week running. Livewire winger Liam Kearney was Blues' star, topping and tailing the win with goals on four and 89 minutes. In between, Willie John Kiely scored his seventh goal in five games. Kearney put Blues in front when shooting home at the far post from Kiely's deep cross. A defensive error by the experienced Thomas Heary gifted Kiely the second on 19 minutes and he lobbed stranded keeper David Ryan. Kearney got his second in the dying minutes when running clear of the visitors' defence to finish past Ryan. |
