Biography

Sean Connor was appointed as manager of Galway United prior to the 2010 season, having managed Dundalk the season previous. He had previously enjoyed spells at both Sligo Rovers and Bohemians.

His playing career was ended by serious injury and he soon entered coaching, heading to America for his first taste of coaching experience in the A League.

After returning home to Ireland, Connor was appointed manager of Sligo Rovers in September 2004, as the season was coming to a close. His first full season in club management began in March 2005 and he successfully guided Sligo Rovers to the First Division title, bringing the Connaught club back to the Premier Division.

Sligo Rovers impressed during their first season back in the top flight, finishing in 5th position.

However, after finishing his second season out West, Connor resigned from his post on November 2nd, 2006, and was shortly after appointed manager of Bohemian F.C.

With just over three months to prepare for the new season, Connor busied himself in the transfer market. Players such as Harpal Singh and Darren Mansaram followed Connor from Sligo to Bohs, while he also secured the signature of Bohs’ legend Glenn Crowe, who was one of several players to leave Shelbourne during late ’06. Neal Fenn and Owen Heary, from Cork City and Shelbourne respectively, also joined the Dalymount revolution.

During his first season in Dalymount, Connor fulfilled his promise to guide the club to a top four finish. He almost brought silverware to Bohs but the Gypsies were defeated in the League of Ireland Cup final by Derry City.

However, his spell at Dalymount Park ended prior to the 2008 season and he was replaced in the Bohs hotseat by Pat Fenlon. He remained out of management for the duration of the 2008 season but was a regular contributor on RTE's Monday Night Soccer programme.
