A second half goal from Lee Roche deprived Derry City of regaining their leadership of the First Division table as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Longford Town at Flancare Park. Patrick McEleney gave Derry the perfect start when, against the run of play, his 25-yard shot beat Town keeper Stephen Conlon after ten minutes. But Town battled back and Roche grabbed a deserved equaliser on 64 minutes when he got his head to Thomas Hyland's ball over the top to beat Eugene Ferry in the Derry goal. The point moves Derry level with Monaghan who stay top of goal difference. |
