A brace of goals from Sean Brennan lifted Monaghan's season to new heights as they leapfrogged long-time leaders Derry City to the top of the table.

Midfielder Brennan put Mick Cooke's EA Sports Cup finalists ahead on 15 minutes after being played through the Town defence.

Brennan then burst through from midfield to score a sublime second on 77 minutes, slotting the ball past Michael Schlingermann.

Town finished with ten men as striker Declan O'Brien was sent off two minutes into the second half for s bad foul on defender Brain Gartland.
