Longford Town 2-2 Salthill Devon
Saturday, 07 August 2010 23:50
Substitute Mike Kennedy earned Salthill an unlikely point at Flancare Park with a late leveller.
The signs were perhaps ominous it wasn’t going to be Longford’s night when John Lester had a fifth minute penalty, following a handball, saved by Devon keeper Ronan Forde.
Bottom-of-the-table Devon then stunned Town to take the lead on the half hour when new signing Cian McBrien put Victory Collins in to shoot past Aaron Shanahan.
Jason Oladele, their match winner in Wexford last week, levelled for Town two minutes into the second half.
Oladele then put Town in front on 59 minutes, converting a cross from the right.
But, just like their opener, Devon scored again against the run of play to snatch their point on 81 minutes.
Kennedy latched onto a poor clearance from a corner to fire home through a crowded penalty area.
