| Saturday, 07 August 2010 23:50 |
|
Chris Breen hit a stunning goal to seal Harps' first win in four games, though they finished with ten men at Terryland Park.
Oisin McMenamin punished defensive dithering by Mervue to calmly fire past Padraic Lally to give Harps the lead after just four minutes.
Davitt Walsh then made it 2-0 on 27 minutes when heading home Marc Brolly’s cross.
David Ryan scored on his home debut to reduce the lead in the 77th minute after a long throw by Rory Gaffney caused confusion in the Harps’ defence.
But substitute Breen struck to seal Harps’ win on 82 minute with a brilliant lob over Lally from 25 yards.
The only sour note for Harps was midfielder Tony Shields being sent off in stoppage time.
