Monaghan United re-opened the First Division title race with a stunning victory over Derry City at the Brandywell to narrow their lead at the top to seven points.
Cathal O'Connor stunned the home crowd in this top-of-the-table clash to fire Monaghan in front after just three minutes.
Mark Farren blew a chance to level when his 12th minute penalty was saved by Gabriel Sava after the keeper had brought him down.
Brian Gartland then doubled Monaghan's lead from a Stephen McCrossan cross on 27 minutes.
Derry got another penalty eight minutes into the second half when Alan Byrne handled. This time Emmet Friars took it and duly found the net.
Farren then made amends for his earlier miss by levelling the scores at 2-2 on 78 minutes after good interplay between James McLean and Stephen Parkhouse.
But Monaghan then won a penalty five minutes later which Philly Hughes slotted home to win the match.
Derry finished with ten men when David McDaid was sent off two minutes from time.
